SPONSORSHIP OF THE MALAYSIAN TENPIN BOWLING CONGRESS
Total sponsorship amount of RM300,000 over 3 years
Petaling Jaya, 8 October 2009 : Century Logistics Holdings Berhad (“Century”) a home-grown leading provider of supply chain management and total logistics services, has today signed a sponsorship agreement with the Malaysian Tenpin Bowling Congress (“MTBC”). The sponsorship amount, totaling RM300,000, will be for RM100,000 per year for a period of three years (2010 to 2012).
Century has been involved with MTBC for a number of years albeit on a smaller scale. Its support for bowling allows Century to practise good Corporate Responsibility.
Steven Teow, Managing Director of Century, said, “I am delighted that our company has been accepted into this close circle to give a small contribution to support the very efficient, effective and innovative development programmes which continue to bring success to the sport.”
Teow added, “Our Executive Chairman, Richard Phua, himself was a former national bowler from 1979 to 1995, during which he won the trios gold medal at the Asian FIQ Bowling Championship in Singapore. This contribution is his way of giving something back to the sport and he aspires to see it scale new heights and give more benefits to the young and talented Malaysians.”
It is no secret that bowling is among the few sports in Malaysia that has reached world class standards. Although bowling is not in the Olympics yet, it is believed that it will be there in the near future. Bowling is already knocking on the doors of the International Olympics Committee and it is a matter of time before bowling gets accepted into the ranks of other prestigious sports represented in the Olympics.
The sport has definitely gained popularity locally and globally. As far as Malaysian bowling is concerned, it has grown from strength to strength. We are now a highly respected nation in the international Bowling arenas.
In spite of Malaysia’s success so far, the MTBC is not resting on its laurels; instead it is working very hard at the development level. The development level is the secret to success and sustainability in any sport.
Teow concludes, “I believe the partnership will motivate both Century and the MTBC to reach even greater heights.”
